Who should be careful
- Given by a doctor or nurse as a deep intramuscular injection — usually for short-term, severe pain.
- Not for people with active ulcers, severe kidney or heart failure, or aspirin/NSAID-induced asthma.
- Tell the team about blood pressure, kidney, liver or heart conditions before the injection.
- Avoid in the later part of pregnancy and while breastfeeding unless your doctor advises.
- Usually followed by oral pain relief once the acute episode settles.

What to avoid while taking it
- Do not take other NSAID tablets on the same day unless your doctor plans it.
- Avoid alcohol completely around the injection.
